I'm currently a Junior in Highschool at NEW YORK CITY. I would like to apply to a college in cali (and lets say i get accepted) would it be a good idea to move all the way across the nation? I mean, how easily will i be able to adapt to the new state?

Not that hard. CA is shown on tv and the movies so much, it's not like it's a big surprise in what it's like here.

CA is a big place. So, the main thing you'll want to find out is if your school is in a big city (Los Angeles, San Francisco, or maybe San Diego), suburb/smaller city (Irvine, Berkeley, Long Beach), or small town/rural (Chico, Merced). There are pretty big differences there. Unless you go to a small town/rural, it's won't be too big a change for you.

The only major thing is our public transportation isn't very good. Our bus system is comparable to NYC's for the most part, but we don't have a great subway system that provides a good alternative. Bart (up in the bay area) is good overall, but has to cover such a large area, it's nowhere near as convenient as the NYC subway.

New Yorkers (the ones I've met) are nice, but we do tend to be less confrontational. We also don't honk as much. In SoCal, that's just asking to be shot (altho that habit seems to be spreading throughout the state). We also don't schedule our lives as much. We don't make appointments as often. If we meet and decide to go to dinner that moment, we just go. We don't schedule it for 15 min from now (not all NYers do that, but I've seen enough who do).
