fall flat on your face, or fall as you lean over too far backward?

Falling on my face--I have more control that way. For example, once, I was walking on a slippery sidewalk while talking on my cellphone. That is a recipe for disaster, of course. And wouldn't you know it, I slipped. But what happened was that I caught myself with my one free hand and managed not to even hit the ground, drop my cellphone or miss a word in the conversation I was having.

Is that cool or what? Lol.

In contrast, had I slipped and fallen backwards, I probably would have cracked my skull, bled all over the place, lost consciousness and looked like an idiot.

Which would you prefer?

Fall leaning too far backwards. I have some nice padding behind me to absorb some of the impact. If I fall flat on my face, I will look ugly until it heals.

I would rather fall flat on my face. It's easier to break your fall that way.
