I am friends with some seniors in high school, and I know they drink at parties (I'm 14). I hang out with them a lot, and they're inviting me to a party this weekend (I can't go b/c of prior commitments). If I DID go and the police came, would anything happen to me if I had not been drinking? If I was drinking? Once again, this is theoretical (not that I would go to a drinking party anyway).

You would most likely have to go to court and then you might get a fine and probation....i know from experience because it happened to my friend

When I was in High School my friends and I used to drink at parties on the weekend. As you can imagine the police came a few times. I was caught twice and both times given a citation (it's a misdemeanor in Michigan) for drinking underage. I had to pay $100 fine for the first one and $200 for the second one.
That was in my day though. I know a young man who just recently got one (a week before he turned 21, idiot) and he got a $500 fine, 6 months of probation and community service.
I guess they're really cracking down.

I personally think that alcopops are the root of the underage drinking problem we have at the moment. I'm not that old, however I remember that when I tried alcohol for the first time it tasted awful. You had to force yourself to keep having a go and every one drank lager and lime or shandies to make it more palatable - the consequence - your ability to cope with alcohol was a gradual increase over the years. These days alcohol tastes nice to kids and they don't have the opportunity to develop the ability to hold your drink

you can go to jail for underage drinking. Someone can slip something in your drink, and then take advantage of you in harmful ways. You can make a complete fool of yourself and be the joke of school come Monday..... It's not worth the headaches or aggravation. You'll have plenty of time to drink RESPONSIBLY. Just wait until your of age. Tell me, Why do you want to drink? What fun is it? Does it make you laugh louder? Throw up easier? It's your call but be smart about it.

The cops might call your parents but they are not going to do anything to you. Even if you have been drinking. They are goign to call your parents and make them come get you. In their eyes that is punishment enough. Being young is a tough time. Choose wisely and choose your friends wisely. Explore what is out there and be careful. If you do drink, even though you should not, but you might, teenagers party, I did, DONT DRINK AND DRIVE AND DONT RIDE WITH A DRUNK DRIVEr!!! Please don't do it, life is too short and drinking and driving is so preventable. Have fun and enjoy your youth!

Punishment and the deterioration of your health. It's not bad to sample alcohol. I'm 15 and do it all the time. I think you could go to juvie. Or you could have some other type of punishment. But trust me. Do get drunk, even if he police don't catch you, you could end up doing things you could regret or you could get raped Just don't drink. Or watch out and make sure that you don't get caught even NEAR alcohol. They don't just punish the people with cups in their hands. They get everyone.

Well andrew, hmmm.. high school parties are very tempting but you sound like a smart individual, but lets face it. sometimes we all question our friends and peer pressure. i would say, if the police came, would you want to risk having you parents pick you up in jail if you weren't sober or they would make you take the walk the line test or take a sample of blood or w/e
hope i helped

I am not sure. If you were not intoxicated probably nothing to you. If you were then YES you would be in trouble. They would probably test you to see if you had been drinking. But is it worth going to a party if you're gonna be worried about this. Why not wait until you're in college and live it up then!! Thats what I did!

you could be charged with guilt by association because of your age, regardless if you had a drink or not.it would be a misdemeanor tho and wouldnt get you arrested per se.. but they could call your folks to come pick you up at the police station,, that would be hard to do.

Yes dear, you would be arrested with the rest of them! You were there, you were at a party where alcohol was served and should not have been. Get new friends, that is my advice.
