My friend who is as WASPy as you can get is marrid to a Jewish woman. So why the hell does everybody keep saying that Jews olny marry their own ethnicity I mean this isn't the 20's for goodness sake!

It's the same as the people who say that blacks don't marry whites and vice versa. You are listening to the loud talking minority.
Listen with your EYES, and you will hear the silent majority who are normal and are prepared to mingle and intermingle with people of different cultures, color and religion. For them, the issue is too trivial to shout about.
Its only the bigots who talk loudly and say it is wrong and unfortunately, all too often heard.

Jews are not supposed to marry (or date, since that can lead to marriage) non-Jews. However, many of them do anyway.
The year has nothing to do with it. It's not a matter of style or modernity, it's a matter of Jewish law and perpetuation of the Jewish family and Jewish home.

Allonyoav and Feivel correct. In the world you are seen as a Jew first, Jews should help their own people,Jews have responsibilities to help the Jewish community. If you find your true love is a non-Jew, you can still raise your children to be Jews. The children can convert to Judaism

Plain and simple, a lot of Jews don't want their blood tainted with Gentile blood. I have known a few Jews who married non-Jews and they all said their parents were furious about it.
And then of course, you have Israel... a country which forbids Jews and non-Jews to intermarry.
Jews, as a group, tend to be supremacists. Of course, there are plenty of Jews who are not like that, but many are and these are the ones who will not marry outside of their own ethnicity.

Many of us do not. I am a Jewish woman, and I would not. Our religion is hereditary, and marrying outside the relgion may result in non-Jewish children.

cuz of movies with old jewish women in them that get mad at their grand daughters for not marrying a jew, its just another stereo type
