I think that from 1974 until 2003 it was an old-girlie man car. Now it is the best car ever made.

No but it has been known as a midlife crisis mobile and yuppie poser from blue collar roots dream car..there was a time that owning a Vette meant something...but any ****** with 50 or 60 thousand to spare...can buy one..like the Vipers...it's not a car enthusiasist's choice anymore..the model's from the 60's or 70's have more personality and style..even the 80's especially the 84 or 90 convertible ...most definitely the 91 ZR-1...those are cars for dudes who love chevys...not just posing...the only models I'm crazy about...are the Calloway Twin Turbos and Ligenfelter supercharged monsters...the ZO6 is a killer machine, though...that supercharged 7 litre V8 with the 6 speed transmission is incredible...a Miata or Mini Cooper is a girlie car...Corvette will always be the working man's Ferrari

In a way, yes. Because of it's new found sophistication, dependibility and relatively low cost the Vette image has become it's own worst enemy. How could you even compare the macho factor of the Vette to it's Dodge counterpart, the Viper? Compared to the Viper's in-your-face styling, King-kong V10 engine, the cramped interior, the stiff, two hand shifter, the bone jarring ride and thirst for premium fuel, the Vette seems absolutely docile. But docile it ain't. The Z06 is probably the nearest we mere mortals will ever come to owning and driving a REAL race car. The fact it's street legal and mild tempered enough to drive daily only confuses it's identity. Now it seems that only old geezers and women are driving the Corvettes -- again, not good for a tough guy image. Which is a real shame because there aren't many cars today that can be driven an honest 150 mph on pump gas and still be tame enough to putter up to the local Walgreens for Bengay cream. No one questions a guy driving a '76 Stingray (with barely two hundred HP) but everyone snickers when the same guy wheels up in an '07 Corvette.

No, the corvette is an icon. I would skip the late 70's and most of the 80's vettes. The new vettes are sweet, and the old ones up to about 1967 are pure class.
If you get the right Vette, it is still a Man's ride!

can you think about what you just said about a corvette it is a very nice car that you can make go fast as hell did you know that you could get a thousand hp out of one of these vettes i don't know about you but girlie not i think that you cannot afford one or you cant fit in one so you call it girlie well you are wrong they can be allot of fun so get back in your ford tempo and go away with that question because a vette is like apple pie and baseball it is an American legacy have you ever driven a corvette it is the cats meow i mean because i do get to drive them more than often they are high maintenance but it is a performance car an affordable one at that to boot so when you see a vette have some respect for it some people dream to own one and believe it or not i don't intend to own one i would rather a Cadillac cts-v which is a vette disguised as a sedan and they are stupid fast enough for me because i plan on getting 700 hp with a pro charger and fast intake this will take out ferrari f430 in a1/4 mile and possibly top end so enjoy

Befoe all these "good ol' boys startes driving aroundin pick up trucks and SUV's they ran around in low slung ,groundpounding cars and the ultimate was the "vette" I know I bought my first one when I was 23 yrs old and have owned 2 more since then. All before I was 31 yrs old

lets put it this way, the corvette is a heck of a car for the money and about every american male wishes or wished at one time or another that they had one and now it's out of reach for most young people buying a new car and only older men can afford them anymore, it's something they always wanted but until the kids were raised and through college they couldn't afford one and now they can.

Not if you've looked at the motor specs. of the 427 Z06 motor. All aluminum block and heads, steel sleeves, 7,000 RPM. hydraulic roller camshaft, titanium intake valves and connecting rods, dry sump oil system etc. On street tires goes in the 11's in the quarter mile. A good set of Hoosiers and a slick final drive ratio would drop to the 9's @ 140 + mph. Old Girly car weighing 3,100 libs in street trim GETS IT MAN !

LOL,nothing could be farther from the truth,A corvette is a complete performance and handleing machine that would test the best of drivers.A lincoln navigator is something people buy when they have a small penis and care nothing about the enviroment.
