moisture into the air? My facial skin is becoming so dry from the indoor heating. I would just need it for my bedroom. What is the best humidifier(or vaporizer) to buy for this purpose?Does a Vaporizer do the same thing?

Vaporizers, because the water is boiled, kills bacteria and molds, and "the minerals in impure tap water"never leave the machine." Vaporizers also enable one to turn down central heat, thus minimizing drying effects. A humidifier does not turn the water to steam first, so mold and bacteria can be spread throughout the room more readily.

To answer the question of dry skin, you need to fix that from the inside rather than the outside - drink more water.

You can also treat the dry skin issue with proper care of your skin.

Get some pine tar soap in either bar or liquid form and wash the affected areas with this. Rinse with a solution of 50% apple cider vinegar and 50% warm water. Pat dry rather than rubbing. Additionally, ingest at least a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar every day. You can add it to your apple juice or a glass of water or make a kind of tea with it by adding it to a cup of steaming water or have a salad with apple cider vinegar and oil as the dressing. This will help work on the problem from the inside while you are working on the problem on the surface.

Pine tar soap is a specialty item that might not be readily available in most stores. The best place to find it is on ebay. Just type in the key words "pine tar soap" and you will find it readily available by home soap makers. There is a business that caters to primarily back-to-the-land types and the Amish communities called Lehmans. The link to pine tar soap is included below.

Pine tar soap is an effective cleanser for all types of skin problems including acne, psoriasis, eczema, itches, rashes and even diaper rash on babies.

If you decide to go with a vaporizer, just make sure you get one with at least a gallon and a half capacity rather than anything smaller. You want it to be able to last all night. Less than that might not make it.

Vaporizers usually emit steam. While a humidifier will most likely eject the moisture by evaporation, ultrasonic mist, and rarely by steam.

Where I live the water is really hard (full of minerals). We got an ultrasonic unit and while it added humidity just like we wanted, we got "dust" everywhere. This turned out to be the minerals from our awful water. There are some filters you can get for this.

I prefer the vaporizer myself. No matter what water quality you put in, it is always pure water vapor that is emitted.

Make sure it is U/L listed. Brand names shouldn't be a big deal. Make sure it seems solidly constucted.

Yes, it is good to use in the winter. I started having daily bloody noses. I started using the humidifier and they stopped. In winter the air is very dry, so adding moisture will help.

I bought a Vicks hot air humidifier for about $35.00. It has a clear plastic tank that can be lifted off and carried to the sink for refilling. It also ha an auto shutoff with a lit dial to be used as a nightlight.

We use one every winter while we're sleeping, and it does a great job. We use a portable humidifier by Honeywell. Don't get too caught up in brands or anything. All you need is one that does a good job and can hold enough water to run all night while you're sleeping. We run it in the bedroom with the door closed, and then turn it off during the day.
