Of Jupiter's four largest moons, Io, Europa, Ganymede and Calisto, Europa is the second closest.
But as Jupiter has many more moons then the four listed above, in actual fact Jupiter's second moon is actually Adrastea.

As far as the Galilean moons are concerned: Io is closest, than Europa, Ganymede, and Calisto. I teach astronomy and am positive! There are several smaller "moons" before Io. Take a look at the table near the bottom of this link.

Europa is 3rd of Jupiter's major moons; the first is Amalthea, then Io then Europa. The others are so small they dont count.
