Lucas (in my opinion) did a poor job in directing his own story of Star Wars. Comic-book and 80's based movies are just be churned-out by the dozens by people who have no love or loyalty to the story. I hope producers and directors will be likened to those who have an affinity for the story such as Raimi (Spiderman 1-3) and Peter Jackson (LOTR). Not to mention the talent.

you are asking for people's opinions for "if" Thundercats is done... "if" they feel it would be botched?

because you feel that

A) Lucas did poorly with Star Wars (he found and bought the title.. the books were written by someone else... )

B) 80's movies are "churned-out" by the dozens by people who have no love or loyalty to the story (or more likely have a different vision for it than you do)

and

C) you personally hope that it would be someone with a love for the story such as Raimi to Spiderman and Peter Jackson to LOTR? ?

Raimi is good... bottom line... does not matter the prior affinity that a producer, director has to a story that makes it good.. it is the director, the talent involved, money backing it...... why would you put it all on one person and his or her love of a story?

"if" they do a Thundercats? it would depend on the screenplay, actors/actresses, crew behind the scenes, and on... all the way to the judge and jury of the audience watching who feel if the movie is done to "their" vision, it is good... if it is done to the vision of the guy next to him? it was botched...... so I guess it will depend on "if" they make it.... "if" you like it....

I wish I could say that it will probably be well done and a true tribute to the old cartoon series, but I know better. Someone will, as they always do in such movies, decide that something need to be changed dramatically either to upcate it for the new audiences, or because they want to distance themsleves from the original (which doesn't make sense to me but they do it all the time) by making those changes.

the infants who used to observe Thundercats are older now and maximum not have an appreciation for such cartoons. and people who have been already of age would be unable to narrate to Thundercats! Thundercats!
