Advection Fog

Warm air is advected (blown horizontally) over a cold surface
The air near the ground cools because of energy exchanges with the surface
As the air cools, the relative humidity increases
Advection fog is common off of California because tropical air blows over the cold coastal waters, or near the Gulf when warm, moist air blows over cool land surfaces further north
