Here's how I do it. I make sure the ceilings are done first. Then lay the sheetrock against the wall and tap some nails in it about an inch from the top edge. I like to line them up with the studs too. Then lift the piece up and get up under it with both hands and slide it up to the top. Hold it in place with one forearm while your other hand nails the nails in. Finish it with screws. Use a drywall kicker for the bottom sheets to butt it up tight. You can also lay the drywall vertically on walls. If your doing anything over a 10' sheet on the wall, you better get a drywall lift to assist you. Otherwise 8' is not a problem and I'm a small guy. Cut out any window/door/outlet openings with a rotozip after its up in place.

It is not easy until you have done it for a few.......years. I am a self employed contractor that used to do all my work by my self. When I hung ceilings I would only use a 8 ft. rock, tack 4 nails in it (2 middle, one on each end) then I would go back and screw it off. For the wall I would pull a tape measure down from the ceiling and mark out 4 ft. Hang the piece below that line so I could use that piece to hold up the top piece. Not so hard but it does take practice and determination. Good luck and have fun
By the way this was all before I knew that they had Sheetrock jacks. They make life easier and saved me a few years

Rent a drywall jack. One guy alone can hang 4 by 12 foot sheets by himself with it. Usally cost around $30.00 a day.

Start from the bottom and work tour way up for starters. Make sure that your screws are in a pouch around your waist. When your bottom row is secured, catch the bottom edge of the top sheet, prop it up, hold it in place with your shoulder, put a few screws in the middle of the sheet, Then you are free to screw the rest in at your liesure.
