when you say classic American songs, the answer can take many forms.
songs like "this land is my land", "god bless america" and "america the beautiful" that could be considered american songs
there are also songs like "born in the USA" and "little pink houses" which in essence are critical of america, can also be considered classic american songs.
then you can also think of "maybellene" and "johnny B. Goode" as classic american... so it all depends on your opinion of what classic american means

"Battle Hymn of the Republic", "Yankee Doodle", "Heartbreak Hotel", "New York, New York", "Sing Sing Sing", "Puttin' on the Ritz", "American Pie", "All Blues", "Rhapsody in Blue", "Hey Good Lookin’", "Stars and Stripes Forever", "Oh Susanna". A lot of music came out of this country in its first 200 years (folk, Sousa marches, jazz, blues, country, rock...)
