since I was born in lusaka I can tell you it is so beautiful there.people think oh Africa, villagers hunger, disease but thats not the case.Zambia is located in the south central part of Afriica and the weather is mildy hot and they get quite an amount of rain.I advice you to shopping at akades it's so cool but dont expect it to be like macys. There are lots of places to eat and get your hair done(no-one ever leaves lusaka without getting their hair done.)There are so many national parks where you can go see the animals and take fun safaris on it's very cool you'll find lions(you may come back without a leg)(lol) (just kidding),zebras, girrafes, but no tigers like people say.

Zambia is a wonderful country. I lived there for over a year. Lusaka is the capital city. Its an OK place, but by no means the nicest area of Zambia. If you are staying in Lusaka, the main street is Cairo Road. This is OK during the day - but be careful of pickpockets. Lots of the children begging on the street are fakes too so be careful of who you give money to. Try to avoid this area at night, especially if you are female. The main shopping area would be Manda Hill. There are a few nice bars there (I love O'Hagans) and some fairly decent and reasonably cheap stores.
If you have time to travel, then obviously Livingstone would be the best place as you have Vic falls and lots of little craft markets, as well as Mosi o Tunya National park which has the only White rhinos in Zambia. But there are many other great places to go, including several National parks, the copperbelt, Kitwe & Ndola, cities near the north.....so many places to go. The Zambian people are super friendly too.
You said you were going in July....this is just at the end of winter so although the days are pretty hot still, the nights & ealry mornings can be a bit chilly, so take a few warm clothes with you.

Have a brilliant time - I am very jealous. And drink Mosi lager - its the best!!

Zambia is a super country. The people are very friendly and everyone speaks English. It is one of the few countries in Africa never to have had a war. It has some fantastic wildlife areas and the Victoria Falls. So a good country to visit as a tourist.

Shopping is extremely cheap... but it can be a bit dangerous, especially if they know you're a tourist. Do me a favour and visit Victoria Falls... absolutely beautiful...
