The baby is padded and secured with the water around it. I think your just waking the baby up or it's reacting to the motion.

I highly doubt it. It may just put your body in a position in which you feel the baby kicking more. I always felt that way myself. You look at pictures of what a baby looks like in the womb and appears as if a mother would break the baby's neck if she sat down. When you sit, you may be pushing the feet closer to the wall of the uterus. The baby is probably active before you sit. Often times mothers feel that when they stand up the baby becomes active. If you are concerned discuss it with your doctor or midwife.

I'm 29 weeks and my little girl does the same thing. Unless I am sitting perfectly straight up, I can feel her in my ribs. It feels like I bruised my ribs. It's even worse if I bend over to pick something up. I don't think the baby can get hurt, because the amniotic fluid protects her, but she is just getting a little cramped in there. I've found that laying down on my side helps. Sometimes I can also push back at her a little and convince her to move around so she's not kicking straight into my ribcage. Try to just find a position that gives her enough room and stay there as much as you can!

Congrats and good luck with your little one!

LOL I'm having the same problem. Its just that you can feel her move more when your in that position. I just fell and landed on my stomach, and had to go to the hospital for an ultrasound and stress test to make sure that everything was fine. It was, so don't worry, your not squishing too much by just sitting down.

No your not squishing her its just pressure on your abdomin and she knows it so she moves to get comfortable its totally normal. No need to worry if you are squishing your baby she is perfectly safe in your womb. keep doing what you are doing if it gets to uncomfortable than switch positions or try a new position. good luck.

No you are not squishing your baby. It is normal for the baby to move around. Enjoy the experience.

You might be squishing her, and she's letting you know it. It's not going to hurt her. She's got lots of fluid around her. But take it as it's intended: quit it because she noticed. If you need to lie down on the couch to be comfortable, do that. You're at the point now where you and your daughter are elbowing each other for what little space is left. Let her have it.

Not really squishing her. The baby is just tell you that they don't like the position you are in as they are kind of squished in there anyways. I remember putting a plate on my stomach one time and the food made the plate warm but not hot. The change in temp caused my daughter to kick and kick until I removed the plate. It didn't harm her in anyway, but that was her way of telling me she didn't like it.

No the baby has plenty of cushion. Dont worry about it. You must be catching the baby in an awkward position or the baby is in a funny position. Not unusual.

no... your baby's pretty safe and protected in that water ball of hers/his! Just try not leaning over too much or too far. I still do that, too, though, and I'm 38 wks, but she's already snug and squished in there anyway. Don't worry about it. Your baby's just probably playing around in there or something.

When you do these things, you tend to be still, right? The baby prefers movement. It tends to calm her and even put her to sleep. When you are not moving, she doesn't like it and/or it wakes her up. So, she kicks and squirms. That's why they tend to be most active when we are trying to sleep. Relax and congratuations!
