well rock and metal are different types of music all together. rock now is like the white stripes and junk like that. but Power Metal is very 80's so i would say DragonForce

Even if you get the sound you may never get great lyrics. Stick to the 70's and 80's. I miss those times. I wasnt even born then.

well there not overly new... but avenged sevenfold has a few songs that sound a lil 80'z rock

Most of those bands are still around . . . AC/DC, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Anthrax, etc.

They're certainly out there. You just have to search a little harder for them. HardRadio.com usually plays new bands like that on their station from time to time.

The Darkness <-- is the newest i think (formed in 2002)
Wolfmother too, but they suck! beleive me, they riped of black sabbath and zeppelin
