1.If a mutation occurs during DNA replication in the formation of an egg or sperm cell, why is that mutation inherited.

The reason why is because offspring are made from the egg and sperm DNA, and only them. If a mutation happens anywhere else, it won't get inherited because that mutation doesn't get passed on to offspring. However, in the eggs or sperm, which are gametes, the mutations will get passed along to offspring.

A baby is made when the sperm cell and an egg does meiosis and made into fertilized egg. When the mutation is occured when replicating the DNA, the mutation is also made in the meiosis. That is why the mutation is inherited
