Does anyone know the difference between a 95 lumina 3.4 transmission and a 3.1 transmission all I know is they are both 4L60E?

both the same. the 3.4 and 3.1 numbers relate to the size of the engine it is attatched to. both being 4l60e is the important number for the transmission

only things different is the calibartion of the valve body and maybe the gear ratio. if the gear ratio is the same then it will work just make sure the electrical connectors are the same. around 95 they started to change theconnectors.

There is no difference. They are both pieces of junk. Buy yourself a Toyota or maybe even a Honda. Tranny problems on either make and model are rare based on automotive standards of excellence.

should be the same, but try calling a transmission repair shop to verify.

the trannys should be the same.its the engines sizes are just different,but the trannys are the same.
