They also seem to have NO respect for U.S. values or culture, only the desire to replace with their own. They treat American citizens as though they are lower and not welcome in their own country! This behavior should be perceived as a threat to our country and freedom...shouldn't it?

Sugary, you're an idiot! The topics is ILLEGALS.Welfare and citizens that abuse it is a totally different topic. Please don't use my question as an oppurtunity to pitch a racist comment!...But now that we're on the subject,it's actually illegals that are using welfare the most..and THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE THE RIGHT TO!!!!

Well as the saying goes, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Illegals have been coming to the US for a long time, complaining about anything and everything, and yes, even nothing.
Have you heard of Hazleton, Pennsylvania? Their Mayor Louis Barletta has started 2 city ordinances, one makes English the official language of Hazleton (business can ONLY be conducted in English, except fof course federal entities such as the Social Security Administration). The other says that any landlords who are knowingly renting property to illegals will be punished with a $1,000 per day fine. (No amount of crack dealing income is going to cover THAT expense!) In addition, Mayor Lou was trying to make city residents register where they live, mostly in an effort to find illegals and get rid of them.
So what do the Feds do? They expedite the naturalization process for the illegals!
I believe that if a person from another country enters our country without proper authorization, then they don't deserve to be here. If they can't follow our laws to get here, then they aren't going to follow our laws once they arrive, either.

I think it might seem like that in some areas, but I haven't seen that kind of behaviour. Perhaps they believe the U.S. is worthy of their respect since they have different cultural values than Americans.
I think our freedom has been drastically reduced already by the government and corporations. I don't see how they would threaten freedom particularly.

Because if THEIR country had what OURS has to offer...they wouldnt come here. They are proud of who they are and where they are from....it just so happens that Mexico is not a very financially lucrative country and many come here simply to survive. It is common knowledge that MANY of them send large portions of their often meager paychecks back to Mexico so that the family may have a standard of living that is close to the poverty level. But if offered the same employment would gladly stay "home" in Mexico.

They want a job. Also, I've noticed many Americans think Mexicans are lower than them, not the other way around.

well since america is the melting pot, we don't have any ONE specific culture,
america is cultural diversity,
meaning, italians, mexicans, africans, jews, muslims, and yes the irish, english and scotts.
why do we have the saint patricks day parade, and the black mans march, black history month, and the forth of july celebration.
Many cultures come here ILLEGALLY not just mexicans,
Your family came here, where from, ans how do you know it was LEGAL, did they escape the poverty and make a better life for you here in america.
I sincerely hope that your mother is never discriminated against because she is a WOMAN,
I personally feel you can be a great american without giving up your culture,
The one thing i will say is that whoever emmigrated to america should appreciate and value what we have here in america,
freedom .
I hope you are never discriminated against because you have not been educated properly, and hope that you are never turned down for a job because of your race,
and I hope that you are never crucified, suffer, and die, like Jesus did.
Best of luck to you my friend

Well let's see, when settlers came here from England they took land from Native Indians. So what you now consider America used to be Indian land. And not all Mexicans are here illegally. What about Italians who put up their flag? Or Irish? We see Irish bars everywhere. We celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Just because someone is proud of their heritage doesn't mean they are a threat to your freedom. They are here for some of the same reasons original settlers came. It is wrong for them to come here illegally but because someone is proud of where they came from doesn't mean that they have no respect for US values. What are US values anyway? Can you tell me?

In response to *you*, I'd say: For the same reason some people put Confederate flags on their vehicles and houses, even though the Civil War ended 150 years ago.
In response to others, I'd say: For the same reason other people in America like to honor their cultural heritage. Or why people put stickers in their windows honoring the schools they attended. Or the sports teams they support. It's really not a big deal.

I agree, I think illegal immigrants should be treated like the criminals they are...not un-invited guests.
They come here because they can.
The get jobs working for cash, get set up in a place to live, then get caught, where taxpayers buy them a bus ticket home so they can get the rest of their family and come back. Its the perfect plan and it works every time. All it takes is one of them to be issued a temporary work permit and the next thing you know the guy listed by that name is working 20 different jobs at the same time...cause all his cousins are working and using his name to do it. As long as they do it in different states, no one ever knows the difference.
