maybe she cant afford high phone bills. most older people are on a fixed income. get instant messaging on your computer and talk that way. you can talk through computer microphones or type it. theres other ways of talking. i wouldnt try to get between your friend and her grandmother cuz that could get messy

I know it makes you angry, but if your friend lives with gmother, then he/she need to keep the respect going by doing what he or she is told or asked to do. Maybe he/she could go and maybe see if there is anything that he can do to earn more phone privileges. or maybe invest in a cell phone....Good Luck
