Have any of you ever cut your index finger really bad? if so how long did it take to recover fully? I cut mine december 14th and had surgery the first of january. I am going to phys. therapy for 4 weeks now and have still not regained the feeling or the movement I used to have? I can only bend my finger about 30 degrees, any ideas?

I don't know about cuts but I did fracture my left index finger while removing the drill from my electric driller. Silly me, I forgot to unplug the driller when using the thingamajig to loosen the drill bit. While gripping the driller with my right hand I must have pressed the trigger and the thingamajig went spinning and hit my finger.
No surgery was needed but I had to go for therapy for a few weeks. I had feeling alright, especially when the therapist bent my finger. YIKES!!!
Today I can bend my finger almost normally but cannot straighten it completely -- a slight bend to remind me to be more careful next time.
I hope your finger will be OK soon. It takes time. Persevere with the therapy. Good luck!

Just continue to do what the Physical Therapists said. If you can't do the exercises, because its too much work, make sure you tell them that. It just takes a lot of time for your nerves and tendons to grow back. I had surgery on my hand soon to be both and possibly my shoulder, but it wasn't because I cut myself, try not being able to move your wrist, hand, and fingers, for about 4 weeks. Just be patient, in the mean time, just sleep. That's what I did.

My mum cut her finger very deep once, she didn't go and see anyone and hasnt got any feeling in it.
Maybe you've hit a nerve somewhere in your finger.
