1995 Chevrolet might desire to nevertheless be a carburetor engine. The carb can get flooded, if the flow interior is out of calibration...too intense. each now and then, a flow gets bent by using fact of too plenty tension from the gasoline pump, and then it is going to enable too plenty gasoline into the carburetor. regardless of if this is a gasoline injected throttle physique, this is a "caught" injector, meaning this is caught open somewhat, and allowing to plenty gasoline to spray into the engine, whilst idling...those may well be unstuck each now and then by potential of using a gasoline injector "cleanser" further to the gasoline yet in addition, there's a tension regulator on the Throttle physique, and if this had closed and could no longer artwork, the excess gasoline pushed by potential of the gasoline pump, can not return to the tank, so it floods. ----------------------------------- together as searching for gasoline leaks, look on the right of the engine, makes useful there is not any gasoline on it. that would desire to reason a hearth. ---------------- further. As Dave pronounced, it would desire to be leaking from a hose, and not sufficient to make sure, yet seeping. i replaced into changing back shocks on my eighty 4 AMC Eagle, and when I raised the vehicle to get to the marvel aborbers, i spotted the rubber gasoline strains going into the gasoline tank, have been "rotted", and moist. So...I positioned off changing my shocks, and somewhat, replaced the rubber hoses. Then, I positioned my shocks on. I had in the past, such as you...smelled gasoline, and can desire to no longer see any leaks. stable ingredient I replaced my shocks, or i could nevertheless be driving it because it replaced into....leaking on the tank.

Try your MAF sensor, Mass Air Flow. The EGR may be clogged, did you remove it and check for carbon build up? You can have the fuel system flushed and cleaned, this will remove all carbon on internal engine parts as well as the fuel system.
good luck......
