I stand by CLR every time. It's never failed me...

Actually the best product available has hydrochloric acid in it. Of course the higher the concentrate the better the cleanser. It has to be used with care, and in a well ventilated area. The directions have to be followed closely. The only place that you can purchase it is through your local janitorial supply store. Has to be good if the commercial professional cleaners use it

I have hard water and have tried many products. I suggest CLR. It seems to work the best but you should wear gloves as it can cause irritation.

white vinegar

-soak the washer in it for an hour
-wrap a vinegar soaked paper towel around the base and let it sit for awhile, then scrub with a toothbrush

There is an all purpose foaming cleaner called WHISTLE it works great
