When this light comes on obviously this suggests the alternator is not charging the battery..The battery had discharged to a point now that it was now not possible to start the engine anymore.
go to the auto repair shop and have your car's charging system checked. It might be bad alternator or loosen alternator belt.

You have low voltage and it could be for any number of reasons. First you should try letting your car idle with no other things on, no radio, lights , heat etc. Let it run for 10 minutes and just idle without driving it.
While your car idles you could clean your battery terminals. The best thing to use to eat the corrosion on them is ...Coke ! That's right always Coca Cola but don't drink it ! It is corrosive.
If this doesn't solve the problem I would check the next inexpensive fix- fuses. Locate your fuse box and be sure that all your fuses are ok. Fuses are relatively inexpensive and easy to install. If you need help just ask the clerk at your chosen auto store and they would be happy to help.
While you are at the auto store of your choosing you could also ask them if they have a trouble light handy to help you solve your problem. With a trouble light they can check your alternator, many stores also check batteries for free and some will even connect a charger/tester to your car right out in the lot at no charge to you the valued customer. I wish you well.

Skenk33? LOL!
Well, your car battery is not completely dead right? You didn't say the car won't start so I am going toassume that you should check your output which should be around 13 on amps and check your alternator. If your battery is doing all the work, you will drain it and have to give it a funeral sooner than expected if that lazy old alternaor or belt is out for lunch.

That is a very common sign that your alternator is probably going bad. You can pull it off and have it checked at most part stores to see if it is charging enough voltage. If the alt stops charging all together the car will eventully stop running when the battery runs out of juise.

more than likely your alternator is bad, go to autozone and have them give you a free charging system check and you will find out for sure if it's your alternator or battery.

when this lite comes on, it means that the charging system has failed. Check the belt 1st for loosness, if not then have your alternator checked for output. Go to any auto zone parts store and they will check it for free. You can leve the alternator in the car for this to be done.
good luck......

it might not be charging or it might be a bad temp sensor in the battery compartment ( some chrysler products have these, I have seen them in dodge neons) hope this helps.
