I would like to order the new Harry Potter book, but when I went to pre-order they had two options. One was the regular hard back and the other was the Deluxe addition, of course for more money, What is the difference?

Illustrations.

I read an article on the Harry Potter series and the deluxe edition will be a hard back with extra illustrations. Think of it as the extras offered with a DVD; some are really great, but many (and with most books) the extras aren't that much.

If you are a big fan of the series then you may want to order it, but since you have the movies you might want to stay with that and remember the characters as they were depicted in the movie. I am pretty sure that the illustrations in the book will be different. If not then they will be based on the characters and you can buy a book about the movies with lots of pictures.

You can buy the deluxe addition to see what it has and then if you don't like it that much you can contact Amazon.com and let them sell it for you. You won't get as much as you paid for it, but you should be able to get a good deal on the newest volume after it has been out for a while.

There is no difference they throw in a few pictures and try to get you to pay the higher price because anything that says "deluxe" will make people want it...such a rip off

In this case, the Deluxe will likely have a slipcover, be larger, and have different artwork on the cover. It may be numbered, I'm unsure.
