Homer existed and his two great poets to!
He lived and died in Greece between 1400 BC 1320 BC!

About 26-2800 years ago...but nobody's too sure. I don't think anybody knows exactly. He wrote down epic poems that had been performed for years on end, rap-style. No, really--same rhythm, performed over a musical accompaniment, spoken-word iambic hexameter rap.

I remember my latin teacher talking about that. I think he died from old age but my teacher also told me that he may not even have existed. Who knows?
