any ideas on how to "distress" a new leather jacket?

This coat has several "military" patches on it, it is very shiny, just looking for any ideas on what to do to make it not look so shiny.

you could sand it very lightly using fine grit sandpaper---
dont hang it on a hanger, roll it up into a wrinkled ball and leave it like that whenever your not wearing it----
rub some dusty sand all over its surface, then shake it out but dont wash it.
