Yes he is the greatest writer and director, and possible the greatest actor. If he is not the greatest actor, then it is someone who has worked in one his movies.

He's excellent but I would argue that Charlie Chaplin one ups him in every comedic category. Don't get me wrong I think that Brooks' films are extraordinary (Blazing Saddles is the funniest comedy in history and has aged extremely well) but Chaplin's body of work exceeds Brooks by far (Gold Rush, Modern Times, City Light, and the Great Dictator).

I was introduced to the works of Mel Brooks by my first love. He took me to see "Young Frankenstein". Since then, I've seen several of his movies. I agree that he's probably the greatest comedy writer and director, although some people just don't get him. Yes, he is a great actor, but I tend to disagree with you on the "best". My favorite Mel Brooks' movie would be "High Anxiety", and my least favorite is "The Producers" - I just don't like musicals that much.

He is great, but not sure I would say he is the greatest. I'm hoping you meant comedic with the director and actor part as well, because clearly he isn't the best otherwise. Great yes but not sure he is the greatest.

i ran into a kid of the 'order of the left handed path' who called him an idiot.. but gave me the incredibly distinct impression that Gibson is of the left handed path.
amazing how many satanists are in hollywood - all connected to the oto, i wonder? joel & jerry '*goldsmith*' are christian science guys, and have worked on soundtracks for over 500 movies - not a single one is pro-christian.. or much less pro-their cult. (the one joel wrote like 25 books for). movies include star trek & stargate.
