large black bristles following the vcurve of the wheel arch, they help stop the dust being kicked up. Your eyelashes stop debris from being channelled to your eyeball.

Eyelashes hold back dirt and dust from getting into your eyes. If we didn't have them we'd constantly be having to rinse out our eyes to free them from dirt, etc.
