hehe, I hae the VERY same concern. I just posted a question about my 5 month old the same time you posted this. So it must be somewhat normal :P

I have the same problem, but from what I can tell, they are just learning so much at this age, and growing so much, they need that sleep to get energy. Sleeping is when our brain has time to go over EVERYTHING that they just learned those few hours they were up.

If you want, you can read the stuff people posted to my question, and maybe there will be some helpful stuff to you on there as well!

Good Luck!

She's fine. My baby is 10-1/2 months old and sleeps 12+ hours at night, and 3-6 hours during the day.

Babies just need lots of sleep to grow, especially if they're going through a developmental change.

Don't worry. Just enjoy it while it lasts.

At 6 months, an infant may nap about 3 hours during the day and sleep about 11 hours at night. Sounds like your she's normal. Enjoy the quiet time and don't worry.

She still needs about 14-16 hours of sleep per day between naps and nighttime sleep. She sounds like she's doing fine to me. If she's sleeping more than usual, its probably a growth spurt.

Babies grow and heal while sleeping. If she needs sleep, let her sleep. If she's over the 16 hour per day mark, then talk to the pediatrician about it. Otherwise, she's getting ready to go through a growth spurt. Don't wake her up.. let her sleep if she needs it.

Babies spend the beginning of their life sleep alot. It is fine. Enjoy the rest. It will be soon enough the baby will will running around. NO need to worry. this is normal.

Don't worry mom if she's not feeling good slepp is what she needs, sh might be starting to get her teeth, or she might be having a growth spurt. babies will sleep alot too if they have just learned to crawl, or are trying to, it saps a lot of energy out of them to do those things.
If you can tell she is not feeling good, then I would take her to the DR.

Maybe she is coming down with something or she could just be going through a growth spurt and need extra energy.
