I would imagine "Pray" this seems to be their accepted language.

Well, rumor has it that you can use sigils, which are special symbols representing angel names. Generally, you put the name in Hebrew characters (spell it phonetically and represent it with Hebrew letter equivalents) which then go on a special chart with the letters in a spiraly pattern (no, I don't have one and I've seen them, but I don't remember exactly what they look like.)
You draw lines from letter to letter and make the sigil, which is the symbol of the name. Then, there's a bunch of hoo-ha about colors and candles and words of power and golems and stuff like that...most of the rituals are from medieval grimoires and Kabbalah stuff, which is hard to understand and might be fake.
I don't know if it works, because I was under the impression that angels serve God and not humans...but if humans are esteemed above angels, then it might work. It seems like a lot of trouble for something that would probably be better accomplished by regular human means. I would hope that angels show up when you really need them, but showing up when you merely WANT them is asking an awful lot, and it's best not to be greedy about these things.

Angels are servants of the Most High. They cannot be 'summoned', but are sent as envoys from above at the will of God.
On the other hand, Fallen Angels abound for the the asking. Merely do evil works and they'll find you.

Magically speaking? Skip all the complex ceremonial rituals and just make up your own summoning. Some candles, some incense, and your undivided attention should do. I never was one to follow all the grimoires word-for-word.
But it's best to learn to pronounce the angel's name correctly.

Summoning angels involves Enochian Magic. VERY difficult and complex. There is NO WAY you will get enough info here to do it! Go and study Enochian Magic for some time BEFORE you attempt it. You will also need to look up the works of Queen Elizabeth's magician Dr. Dee.......

When you say, summon an angel, it sounds like you are telling one to get his pretty little wings in action pronto!! I do not believe you TELL and Angel to do anything, ASK yes. TELL NO

Dear zz23;
You don't summon an Angel. Angel's are God's messengers and are not accessible to us humans without God's authority.

My mother told me to clap and the angels would come to protect me. Of course one night when I was 5 I was taking a bath and my mother heard this slapping sound from the bathroom. She came in and I was frantically clapping my hands because I had heard a scary noise!!

It takes a lot of practice.
First, you have to focus on yourself, and learn how to calm yourself, quiet yourself, and get centered.
Meditate, and make your mind void of all thoughts. Don't worry about the days events, nor worry about what is going to happen tomorrow. Think about NOW.
There are many types of angels. What is it that you want? Love, peace, strength, healing, wisdom, success.... think about what you truly want, and how you will use that gift.
Fill yourself with positive thoughts, the angels will come to you. It takes a while, but you know it when it happens.

Angel of God,
my guardian dear,
to whom God's love commits me here,
ever this day,
be at my side
to light and guard,
to rule and guide.
Praying to your guardian angel.
