Audry A and Magicman have it pretty much right on.
An eel (all variety) needs a little hiding space to be happy. The problem with that is Oscars a VERY territorial, this would include any and all hiding spots (decorations and plants). Your Oscar will find anything (eel or otherwise) a threat to his/her domain.
Even two Oscars will fight over decorations, it is not a good idea to keep decorations / hiding spots with even with multiple Oscars.
No they will no coexist in peace.

Good Luck.

I wouldn't suggest it at all. An eel sure is shaped a lot like a worm...one of the Oscars natural foods. I think you would just be giving your Oscar a pricey treat or at the very least he would bother the eel so much that it would die of a stress related illness.

It depends on the size of your tank and the type of eel.

All freshwater eels need plenty of places to hide. Be sure to provide rock caves and similar type spaces for it to feel safe. An oscar generally won't bother it, if its large enough in size (if it can't fit in the oscar's mouth), and you have a suitable tank (just one oscar requires a 55+ gallon tank).

Both are very interesting fish. Good luck!
