If your car has over 70,000 miles it wouldn't be a bad idea to change them just to keep things in order. The plugs screw in and out like a big bolt using a special long socket. It is important to put an anti-seize compound on the threads so the plugs wont become stuck in the head, and be gentle with the wires. Modern cars don't "need" plugs so often. If the car isn't running OK it could be wires or a sensor, so you'll need to get someone to check it with a hook-up to the computer. Winking will help too ;>)

Are your spark plugs bad? You know how you raised them. They sound like okay enough spark plugs to me!

Honey? Honestly, if you are single, start winking at the cute mechanic that works right down the street and bat your eyelashes and wear a cute short skirt and I am sure those spark plugs won't be bad anymore.

Seriously, if they are fouled they will look burnt and black at the ends that go in to the block. New ones have to be gapped. Honey? I know a lot about cars and I am a woman but leave the spark plugs to the cute guy you are going to wink at and treat to lunch if he replaces them. If you have a boyfriend already and he doesn't know how to do this? Ditch him for the cutie mechanic you have had your eye on for some time now. LOL!

Well when was the last time you had them changed? If you cant remember then it is probaly time to change them.... you should change plugs every 25-30K

In my past 27 years experience I would recommend Champion Platinum's, Stay away from Bosch and NGK.... they are junk. To change them you need a socket set and extensions. Just pull off the wire, by the spark plug boot, then put the socket on the spark plug and unscrew.... most engines it is a pain in the butt to get to the plugs, not alot of room.... so have fun... you might invent a few new cuss words when changing them.... :)

Wait until the engine is cold. Take out the spark plugs and look at the lower end (with the electrode). It should be greyish, with just a touch of black, and dry. The top of the electrode should be flat, unless you have platinum plugs. Check the gap while you have them out, using a feeler gauge. If the plugs are burnt (white), or thickly black (burning oil), or wet (too rich), get to a garage to find out why. If the electrode is rounded (excluding platinum plugs, which are designed differently), change them.

A good indicator of poor spark plugs is poor gas mileage. If you notice that your not getting good MPG then your plugs are probably bad. If you've never replaced spark plugs before I recommend you take a class in basic auto mechanics. If you strip the plug while taking it out, or even worse, if you break the plug you'll be in for major head work ($$$$). Good luck.

A good plug will be light tan or brown with sharp eclectrodes. a bad one can vary in apperance but main things are white with fluffy deposits, that means carbon fouled or your running hot. a black plug means its worn out causing a rich condition. and so on but the main thing to look for is the tip and the side electrode should be square and sharp, compare it to a new one and you will see what i am, talking about if it isnt sharp and the electrodes are rounded and worn and you have at least 30k on them i would replace. and its easy to replace, you just need a 3/8 ratchet and ext and a 5/8 socket dont do it while engine is hot tho you can strip the heads.

if they got oil on them then the oil is passing the rings.if they are kinda red then it stuff you put in your tank and thats ok.what you want to see is a light color tip.if they are black, check the cat,and the o2 sensor, cause its burning too rich.
