A friend sent me this so he asked me to come out of my nightly retirement to answer it. So here goes....

Once upon a time, I met a charming prince, who was my soul mate, best friend, lover, advisor and confidant. Everything I ever dreamed of while being married to him came true. I never had huge expectations or dreams in life. What I wanted most was to love and be loved, a home of our own and love of family and friends. Yes, those dreams came true and many more. I was living my 'happily ever after' for years.

Then one day, the world stood still and I had to endure the painful and semi-swift death of the person I loved more than anyone, more than myself. His was the 9th death in 9 months of many dear friends and family.

I had to redefine everything I knew not only of myself, but my faith, my will, my attitudes and perceptions of others around me as well. What I had known about myself had vanished in a brief instant of time and I began to question everything I knew of life and myself.

It took me years to put the pieces of a shattered 'fairy tale' life back together. I have become more independant, more cynical, more realistic of who I trust, and am still trying to define my purpose in life.

It's an ungoing journey without a compass. It's been an evolution such as I never expected to encounter, but found the strength some where deep within to persevere. I am still re-finding aspects that had been lost but also finding aspects I never dreampt possible.

I am a new vessel just beginning a new journey through life.

Isn't this a Level 10 question?

If we haven't, we all will; it's natural.
"Shedding needless skins of shapes we're been", as it happens in Nature. Yet it feels so strange and out of my element when it happens to me periodically. As it will.
A knowledgeable person could write a few pages or a book in answer and still not have the gist.
I truly believe there is a built in homing signal that is hard to locate and find. Especially if we're not looking and have forgotten.

I know what I've become. I don't know what I'm becoming!

Keep the faith, close your eyes, and repeat like Dorothy, "There's no place like home."

To find oneself, go inward and take a step back. I meditate everyday and observe what I do, how I interact with others. I know what I am and what I am capable of doing. To "re-find", ask yourself, what was lost to begin with? Somtimes the treasure is knowing what key to use and which doors you wish to open.

Approaching 60, I have pretty much stopped looking. I have an idea of who I am, and while it's not all that special, it's me. Good luck on your search, but don't be surprised if there's not a big AHA at the end of the quest.

Everybody does. But the cost of experiencing them is probably a lot less than the cost of preventing them. You just start from where you are, and there you are.

I go back and look at my life. The dreams that I had...and what I have done recently etc. It does happen, and sometimes it is good to just reflect.

Dear, I am too old for those moments. In fact, I can't remember the last time I did.
