It is time for either, or for both! One could win & select the other as Vice President!
The statement has been made that other countries have had both in their highest positions & blacks & women did great jobs. Why should it be any different in this country. We pride ourselves on our progressive attitudes, yet question the most basic progressive actions our nation could have; equality of blacks & women.

The Human genome is 99% identical.Skin ,hair color, eye shape, size, and gender DO NOT effect an individuals mental acuity or character. DUH
The only way to ask AMERICA about their preferences for a president is to ask what type of character, beliefs and goals they would like to see as the next president???
The race and gender aspect is just ignorant....
What directs mankind's leaders is the individual's choices, beliefs and determination. Bad and good is easily tweaked if the "leader" is obsessed with his/her vision, or deluded by the lust for power and greed , or able to secure his/her desires by manipulating, brainwashing or coercing others with a belief in their need to fight/die for their cause...(cause can be freedom or religion or die if i resist or go along and hope to survive the battles).
Who is chosen is not about how they look or their sex...

America needs a good President regardless of race or gender. A President that can have the best interest for ALL AMERICANS regardless of race, religion, gender, etc. I for one think that a minority President is long overdue. A female, that's another story. Not because we cannot do it, but America is not ready for such a step.

Its about time! We are really behind in the world as one of the other answerers said. We need one or the other, and I'm sure some politicians even want it to happen in order to maintain the illusion of 'equal rights'. However lets keep Condi Rice out of the race since she would be the next one in line for the Bush squad to remain in power.

Mainly I feel like this question gets asked 50 times a week on Y/A.
If she is a conservative she can be purple for all I care. Obama and/or Hilary wouldn't get my vote not based on his race or her being female, but because she is an outdated old Marxist hippy, and he is a socialist nightmare.

If someone is qualified then it doesn't matter what their race or gender is. I'm afraid that if we got a minority president then all we'd hear about is that they were the first black or first woman and yada yada yada..... The media would turn it into something negative and it would be a constant race vs race or gender vs gender thing.

It should make no difference. In fact the US is behind many other countries for having women and minorities as leaders.

It is a hard time right now for a woman to be Pres b/c of the way the ME views them as weak. A non-white OK as long as they don't have affiliations w/terrorist groups.
