for a little while now 1 out of 5 times i start my car, the idle will go up then drop and the car will shut off. when i give it gas it catches and idles normally, but i dont want this problem to persist. i read on some forums that it is the idle air control valve. is this the problem? if so how do i clean it? if you are okay with it, leave an email so i can email you directly with any more questions. thanks

To clean this valve, it's a pain in the ****. Most dealerships will just replace it. Here's what I recommend.

Remove the control valve from your manifold just below the air cleaner on the fuel injection air feed tube. soak it in chem tool for about an hour. Let it dry out for about four to six hours. Reinstall.

It's either the IAC or the TPS(throttle position sensor). Try cleaning it with Brakleen.
