Now, I don't really know what endothermic reactions are, but I know what endothermic means. I would suggest starting your first sentence broader context, and in the second sentence, introduce your topic specifically as the nature of endothermic reactions.
You could say like, "Since cold-blooded animals such as reptiles do not have the advantage of a stable body temperature like their warm-blooded counterparts, the bodies of these animals must survive through certain chemical processes to protect themselves from low temperatures. One important complex chemical process, known as endothermic reaction..." [complete this sentence explaining what endothermic reaction is. then add one more sentence to finish the introduction]
Start off with a broader context that might relate to real life and try to engage the reader in your first sentence. Your second sentence and onward should be specifically about endothermic reaction.
Hope that helps!

I tried to entice my readers with an example of what I woudl be talking about. Give an example of an endothermic reaction then have your paper "ask" questions about that example. Follow up with a topic sentence saying how you will answer these questions.

Your first sentence will basically list everything the essay is going to cover. For example, you might be talking about the definition, the applications in research, the uses in society, the history of, etc etc. So you will state these in the first paragraph.
