Nature. This originated with the Ionian Greeks. Before then, people did not see any distinction between what is natural and what is supernatural. They thought things existed and events happened because of unseen spirits, or the will of God, etc. etc. But Thales of Miletus taught them hey look guys, the universe is natural. This was the first step towards developing natural science. Eveything we have learned since then has followed those perceptions of nature. Some people are still fighting this issue, such as the creationists who desperately want to cling to the idea of supernatural influence in biology. But step by step, for almost three thousand years, perception of nature was grown better and better. "Nature" was an incredible invention.

Electricity. Without it we would have nothing. Bear in mind that even green energy like solar and wind power some people use these days also generates "electricity". It is still electricity.
