In colonial times, 1600s-1750, native Americans had it better. They were free. They did not know yet how un-free they were to become after 1750. ***** slaves (pardon me, I use a brutal term) were un-free from the time of their being brought here. Native Americans continued to have it better in the colonies in that the French employed them to carry out war against their enemies, the British, in the persons of colonists.

Things got worse for Indians and Blacks afterward. Indians changed from being allies in wars to people who were pushed back and transported to reservations and distant parts. Black slaves were increasingly subjected to practices such as "sold down the river."

Pardon: Some one may think that my remarks above in any way justify or glorify ***** slavery. No!

Both did not fare well! Reviewing the obvious it appears the African slaves had it worse due to the fact that they were hunted down by other African Tribes and sold into complete slavery in a foreign land. Native Americans had to fight to keep their land but their culture was kept more intact.
They both are still fighting to integrate our society and are finally making great strides. We did not treat the Native Americans with understanding but at least they maintained their way of life while the slaves were humiliated personally and forced to live, in most cases, utterly deprived of education, culture, health care and freedom of any choice.

How about the "indentured servants", as they were called?
