I don;t know if this is the answer that you're looking for, but it sounds like it means that poetry is a way of putting your innermost thoughts into words that can speak for themselves, and convey a message that is like a picture inside one's mind. And poetry has words so powerful and sparking that they produce burning emotions.

Good poetry does not as much tell as cause the reader or hearer to feel. It evokes thoughts and emotions deep inside the human consciousness. The poet's thoughts are put into words and those words in turn affect other people deeply. In former centuries people referred to their hearts burning. For example, when Jesus met two of his disciples on the road to Emmaus after the resurrection, without their immediately recognising Him, they discussed the matter afterwards between themselves, saying: "Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way..."
I like another definition of poetry (that of Dylan Thomas): the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings.

That's quaint, but not very helpful. Reading and writing poetry is fun. Hearing poetry is even more fun than that. Sharing your poetry with others by reading it aloud is the most fun of all. Write on!

i would translate that to mean thoughts breathe, they come to life. your giving meaning through character and reference to your innermost thoughts and feelings....words can burn could mean that the truth hurts, it may sound pretty and read nice but the interpetations are up to you..not everyone will read it the same as you intended it to upon writing it. people can be judgemental and you may strike a sore spot with some and its criticism my come back to haunt you....thats what i think anyway.
