... that Portugal beat Brazil fairly and squarely today, 2-0 in a 'friendly' in London ? Portugal are a good team but I did not see Brazil do much magic... and... where the helll was Ronaldinho ?

"rosey" -- can I correct you ?! Portugal is not ONE OF THE best teams in the world.... Portugal is THE best team in the world at the moment.... I am Portuguese and LOVED reading your post, thanks !! Tell you what I find GRAND.... such a small country as Portugal is, with such a formidable football... now that's COOOOOL !!!

"Liliana" -- you must be very young and that is why you said what you did. Any Portuguese is a brother of mine (sister in your case)... Portugal has been ONE OF THE best teams in the world since about 1966... but it is THE BEST in the world right now and if it wasn't for the political interference in football and the 'fixes' that that entails, Portugal would have been Euro Champions and not the Greeks (what a joke) and the World Cup final last summer would have been between Argentina and Portgual not between those two mediocre teamns of Italy and France... Sorry everyone but in a democracy I am allowed to say what i truly and honestly believe is the the truth !!

"Summer" -- good point but that is the eternal and niggling thing... did my team win because they are good or because... the other side was not playing their best ?! Normally, a bit of both. Lastnight... Two goals at the END OF THE GAME show that Brazil were no pushovers...

"wreck'd angel" -- Gee... loved to read your comments. One of these days we will have a female top football manager. I would consider it if I were you -- you're good.

"wreck'd angel" -- Gee (again) no idea. I am a law graduate, a far cry from football careers. Writing to well known clubs might be the answer. I also think there are degree level courses... Let me know how it goes (I would like to catch you before you become famous... autographs of the famous are valuable). Would you believe I approached Pele (yes him) years ago and asked him to sign ELEVEN photos of him... and then I gave away all ELEVEN autographed photos ? I hear that today each would be worth about £800... for a lawyer I am pretty THICK !!! Rrrrr...

Apparently some of the Brazilian starts are too good to play against Portugal, a team that they still consider inferior!

I am also Portuguese, but Portugal is not the best team in the word YET... but that is just a matter of time.

With a population of 10 million it is incredible the quality that our national team displays, i am proud.

Next?

I have to admit Portugal did play a good game, it wasn't great, i think Brasil had many more clear cut oppurtunities to score, but they just were unlucky, the goal by simao, was a great goal just poor defending on Brasil's part, and the second goal was just lucky, Portugal has definetly gotten better in the last few years but what do you expect when you hire a Brasilian coach, and recruit a Brasilian player to your national team, and the whole magic thing isnt about pulling a rabbit out of a hat, it's the way the play the game that makes it magic, how they control the ball, how they build up to attack and all elements of the game, it just wasn't Brasil's day but never under estimate them cause they'll come back and bite you in the ***

I agree portugal is a good team but i do think they not the best , maybe in time they will be one of the best, Brazil didnt play that well last night & i think coach Dunga should reconsider his team for 2010 , maybe add the top players & give Ronaldo a chance to make his big come back for Brazil, Ronaldino & Ronaldo are Brazils best players. Even though Ronaldo is unfit - his skill is amazing.

Portugal had more experienced players! Brasil's squad was young and they were lucky to have had at least Kaka & Lucio. I dono...I thought the match was pretty boring. Portugal played better and won with those 2 late goals which was the only exiciting part about the match really lol.

I love this question(and your own answer sir),
those were my sentiments EXACTLY last night .... Cristiano Ronaldo was fantastic(again), was verii proud of him for sticking out all that boo-ing as long as he did ... he literally carried Portugal's strike force on his shoulders, and my other main man Mr. Ricardo Carvalho, was all over the place as well, carrying the defence on his shoulders -- and the LEGEND that is Deco, was simply ... well, Deco!
I can't believe Mr. Superstar Ronaldinho was "injured" (again!)
Did he not just play for Barca last weekend ????
The first word that came to my mind was "lazy!" ....
To take a prime example of someone who deserves to use that excuse when he's not up to playing, is Francesc Fabregas ... he plays Premiership games over the weekend, was in the starting line-up for BOTH legs of the Carling Cup semi-final vs Tottenham, was present again vs Middelsborough this past weekend, has been called up for national duty vs England tonight and has Wigan coming up over the weekend ....
REALLY Ronaldinho .... "injured" you say ????
Don't make me choke on my own spit from laughing so hard ....

Anyways, back to the point ....

a well deserved win for Portugal!!!

******************
Ah! Mr. Red_Chrome, stop ... you're too much! *lol*
I'm instantly thinking of the song "Damn Girl" by Justin Timberlake from his new album ... the part where Will I Am from B.E.P says:
"Damn [(girl)-->guy in this case], you're making me blush. Making me look like a black grape and stuff"
*^ __ ^*
Thanx for the compliment .... and that doesn't sound too bad for a career choice. Do you know how a person gets started on something like this ??

**************************
Thanks for the tips !!!! Will be sure to try out that path ... but, (and this is gonna sound a bit too good to be true, near bordering cheesy), but
my first line of study is currently in the legal field .... a BA degree in Law, specialising in Entertainment Law. There's not a lot happening in this profession in South Africa, so I thought that it'd be much more interesting than just the boring 4yr LLB drag ... no offence!
I'd like to go into the music side of things .... a big dream is eventually working for EMI ... ah, I can just imagine representing people like Ms. Joss Stone, Katie Tunstall, Coldplay, Norah Jones, etc. etc. ..... getting a bit carried away!!

But that's a dream of mine, and also to(obviously)help South African artists break into the global music scene even more!

Ooh, ouch about the Pele pics dude !!! :-)
Didn't you pay attention during lectures ?? *lol*

Thanks again for the tip ...

What are you implying by saying fairly???

Yes Portugal beat Brazil fair and square.....People need to realize that Portugal is one of the best teams in the world...Regardless of how they are portrayed by the english media...Today was just a friendly reminder of that...

First of all easy to say that Brazil are amazing, it's not always true. Portugal won fairly because in thse past 4 years they are better than Brazil. Ronaldinho was injured

Yea of course it was fair. Portugal played a fantastic game and they were completely on top of it. As for Ronaldinho, he was out with a calf injury.

I don't really know what your question is, but look at the squad put on the pitch for the Brazilians.

Kaka, Lucio and Gilberto were the only real regulars on the pitch for Brazil.

Portugal put out a strong side, Brazil put out a not so strong side.
