Because, he was purely sexual in a time when gays weren't supposed to be seen, much less present themselves as sexual objects. I used to watch him and wonder where he got the b*lls. I loved him for it.

I met him very briefly back stage at one of his last concerts. He had an odd smile but really nice eyes.
