Ha. Great question. Neither. One is goofy, the other too fantastical.

Not sure if we have an accurate portrayal in anything on the screen. That Tom Hanks thing was pretty good. Suicide seems like a very plausible contemplation in that situation.

I tell you which one is my personal choice -- the Blue Lagoon thing. I mean, Brook Shields in her prime. Come hither, sweet thang!!

I don't know much about Gilligan's Island, but I do know that Lost isn't exactly realistic. In the first season, it seemed more realistic (I thought the monster was some form of dementia) in that the characters didn't have hope for survival. Now, it seems to have taken on a fantasy quality complete with unanswered questions.

Gilligan's Island.

But if you REALLY want to see a better example of being stranded, please watch LOST IN SPACE starring Billy Mumy, Angela Cartwright, Marta Kristen, Mark Goddard, June Lockhart, Guy Williams, Johnathan Harris and Bob May/Dick Tufeld as the Robot. It is truly one of television's landmark series, and has resonance to this day, and most likely foreverafter. I expect that LOST IN SPACE will outlive God.

Initially I would have said Lost. But after the last season plus, I'm beginning to lean the other way. The writers continue to draw out story lines without ever closing any of them. It's almost gotten to the point where it isn't making any sense at all. This is the first time that I can honestly say that I'm not all that excited about seeing the new shows.

LOST seems to be more realistic, but Gilligan's Island is much better.

LOL, one is about as realistic as the other. Not that much difference between being able to make a radio from a pair of coconuts than being cured of paralysis because you crashed.

neither. i think the movie Castaway is more realistic except for the fact that he survived that crash in the first place. But that wasn't the question, was it? haha
