Neither. Manning really wasn't that great, and I expected Grossout to be as lousy. So no surprise either way for me.

i hate peyton manning. but i gotta give credit to that punk. the guy didnt throw the ball like he usually does because he knew that it would be hard to catch it in that weather hence he opted for the running game to make it safe. good qbs dont just try to look good during games they manage to win games. bad qbs like rex grossman would make bad decisions. you dont pass it to a wr who's covered by 3 opponents.
to answer your question neither surprised me. but peyton manning didnt panic and made good decisions. though i did see that he tried many times to pass it to #88 just to shut the media up. rex grossman was what i expected from him. an unexperienced qb who cant play this game.
tom brady still better than peyton manning. ahead with 2 more rings. and this year is going for #4

Grossman played terribly inconsistent all season. His dreadful performance was no suprise.
Manning's performance wasn't really all that impressive either 25/38 for 247 1TD and 1 INT are pretty average numbers and under average for Peyton.

there were no surprises really. we saw how Grossman struggled most of the year and it came to be in the biggest game. Peyton had a good year as always

neither. Peyton did what I expect him to do. the Superbowl is alot of pressure when its your first one that's why he didn't do better the fact is Peyton was the better quarterback
