Is the book, "sisterhood of the traveling pants" good for high school freshmen ?

Is it too easy or is it the right level. Also, pleasse give any other suggestions for good novels.

For my YA lit. class we had it fit for middle and early high school students. Amazon has it listed for grades 7 - 9.
Also, I've included some links that I found handy when I was in the YA lit. class. They're lists of books that 1) teachers have found great for kids, and 2) students themselves find awesome.

Its is a good book for high school girls. Emphasis on girls only. The reading level is not necessarily high school material but the content is definately high school. It is a series so I don't think the movie will have an effect on the readers except that they will want to know what happens next so then they will read the rest of the book (since it doesn't really cover the entirety of the first book) and the rest of the series. If you're looking from a teaching perspective, well there's not much to analyse from the book. It is what it is. Its not a classic or a literary masterpiece to study but its a good light fun read.

If this is for class, I would say no because there is a movie - the odds are students would watch the movie and write the book report instead of reading the book.

i think it's the right level. even if i'm only in the sixth grade, i'm an advanced reader and so is my friend. but ask your teacher if it is for a school assignment. she might have other suggestions that will work better for you.

yeah, i liked it.. and I'm in HS but I'm a Jr. sooo............. but it WAS good
