I'm in favor of the asker doing the choosing (have you ever noticed how many unresolved questions are in the voting list?? Some from nearly a year ago)... but it is rather interesting to note sometimes how certain askers will nearly always choose the same answerer... that's a bit childish...
One more thing, what is WITH these people going around giving everyone a thumbs down? I thought that was for really bad answers but on some questions, like this one, nearly everyone has one... pathetic. This is a Q that asks for an opinion which is what people have given and therefore it cannot be worthy of thumbs down... I'll thumbs up everyone... (except my own, of course... lol) ;-P

definitely the asker. Sometimes the best answer that the voters chose is just someone joking around when a bunch of other people legitimately answered the question. If the asker had to choose, then the "closed" questions would automatically be easier to wade through, too, because the best answers would be at the top.

The voters did not ask the question themselves, so they have no reason to be implied in it and to actually care. Voters easily overlook good answers and usually care only about their personal opinions, while the asker might have had other reasons and a different view.
