I really dont believe so. How do you be ghetto? Do you have to live/be from the ghetto to be ghetto? Do you have to dress a certain way ( and if so please tell me how )? Do you have to speak a certain way or do you have to be loud? Or do you have to be obnoxious and always wild!? Do you... have to be black?!!!

I wanna know! Cuz little preppy girls in my school will be all like " OOHH! That is like soo ghetto!" I'm like WTF?!!! Shutup! Here's the story:

In class my teacher got a new blue rug for her room. When the girl came in shes all like "Mrs. West, your rug is like soo ghetto! I mean the blue is ghetto!" I got soo pissed off! Whats my problem?!

A ghetto is an area where people from a specific racial or ethnic background or united in a given culture or religion live as a group, voluntarily or involuntarily, in milder or stricter seclusion. The word historically referred specifically to the Venetian Ghetto in Venice, Italy, where Jews were required to live; it derives from the Venetian gheto (slag from Latin GLĬTTU[M] cfr. Italian ghetto (slag)), and referred to the area of the Cannaregio sestiere, the site selected for the Ghetto Nuovo where a foundry cooled the slag (campo gheto). It was later applied to neighborhoods in other cities where Jews were required to live. The corresponding German term was Judengasse; in Moroccan Arabic ghettos were called mellah. The term came into popular, world-wide use during World War 2, in reference to Nazi ghettos ( see below ).

The term now commonly labels any poverty-stricken urban area. In the U.S. the news media created terms like rural ghetto to describe mobile home parks, farm labor housing tracts and Indian reservations to indicate that the poorest areas in the U.S. aren't within major cities. In the United States, urban neighborhoods where Hispanic immigrants settled in the late 20th century (called barrios) are said to be comparable to ghettos, because most immigrants form a culturally isolated enclave and may choose to remain there or associate with their own group.

The note GHETTO is a center Italian note; it means FOUNDRY. sometime in the course of the 14th or fifteenth Century, the Christian inhabitants of (I ignore which city) rounded up each and each and every of the Jews who lived there and positioned them in an unused foundry. i have examine 2 thoughts about why this got here about. One tale pronounced it develop into to guard the Jews from the onslaught of the Ostrogoths who were attacking the city. yet another tale pronounced it develop into to be in a position of regulate the moves of the Jews. Whichever tale is authentic, the very truth continues to be that the Jews were herded into the GHETTO. it really is how GHETTO sport to signify a community positioned aside the position one team of human beings stay. each and each and every of the connotations pronounced above are cutting-edge additions to the basis which technique of the note.
