It depends on the stain...some can come out with simply mild soap and water (but make sure to dry and treat it thoroughly afterwards), or for tougher ones, some stores and catalogs sell leather cleaning solutions. You might want to try Tandy or BudK (just Google them) for leather cleaning products.

get a bucket and rinse it out in cold downy water and hang outside to dry in sunshine turned inside out first.
