In the early books the female characters were lively, interesting, and fairly intelligent (depending on character). But the later books seemed to feature dithering idiots and manipulative hags in the place of all the women. Admittedly, I stopped reading at about book eight. So does anybody else see this or is it just me? Or did things get better after I stopped reading?

I think in the early books we didn't hear the story from their perspective nearly as frequently which is perhaps why they seemed more intriguing. In the later books, pretty much all of the female perspectives were annoying/boring to read in my opinion. It seems like they do nothing but sulk and moan about men. Let's face it, their power isn't nearly as interesting as Rand's, so reading every other characters' parts seems like a chore waiting for Rand again.

and i never liked egwene but she got cool in knife of dreams 2...
i think after she fell in love w/ rand aviendha got boring
