Arm the Police Force?!! This would be nothing more than a recipe for pure disaster!!

Look at what happened last time police were armed and worried about terrorists shortly after the 7/7 bombings in London.

An innocent man shot dead becuase a trigger happy pc panicked...

No way should general police be armed - terrorism needs to be fought at its root not on street level.

The police force, homeland security (cia/fbi) are better if their reports are read and acted upon by the white house. Military response is obviously not the answer. Great Britain has now stopped two major terrorist attacks with their police.

For one it is not a Police Force anymore - Police Service. They are not enforcers anymore.

I think we all have to have our wits about us as individuals to help tackle terrorism in being vigilant and aware that society has changed now.

Maybe they should pole the police officer who walks the beat, He/she is the one that put their life on the line every time they go out on the streets. As to whether this will stop the unseen enemy, i doubt it

Because the police have a nasty habit of shooting innocent, unarmed people dead. And that's with just the 'specialist' firearm units on the streets - arm the average copper and it'll all go very wrong indeed.

if our police force is armed then more criminals will be armed. at least now if it all kicks off in the pub the most that would happen would be that someone got battered. personally i do not like the idea of kids in my town being armed. armed police have already made one tragic mistake with Jean Charles de Menezes.

Have you ever tried to shoot someone who is invisible? It's not easy. Unless they are wearing a hat of course.

Why? what are they going to shoot at if the terrorists are invisible,
by the time you find out he is a terrorist he would have blown himself up anyway.
