It depends on where you are, what kind of pony you want, and how trained it is and whether it is registered.

Ponies can get into the thousands, but you should be able to find a well-trained, gentle, affordable pony for between $500 and $800.
Be reminded that the upkeep and vet bills are ongoing ....... and you need to have someone teach her basic horsemanship and riding skills as well. Ponies aren't like dogs or cats...they can hurt you if you don't know what you are doing. How oldis your daughter? If she is very young, maybe a miniature horse would be a better pet until she needs a bigger pony to ride. That way you can learn about horse behavior together with a smaller version.

I thought that it would be pertinent to point out that the purchase price is small compared to the amount of money you will end up spending on your horse/pony. My horses cost 600 and 1300, so the price can vary depending on the animal you're buying. Be extremely careful buying a pony/horse, because if this is your first horse, and I assume it is, then I know for a fact that there are people who can tell you are inexperienced, and they will rip you off bigtime. Take a friend who is horse/pony experienced to go along with you, and prevent people from cheating you! hope I helped.

That is a really bad reason to get a pony...they are as much work as horses and cost about as much. and it is not the cost of the pony, but the cos of keeping him....they need to be fed twice a day every day including Christmas morning, Superbowl Sunday, and your birthday....and if you do not know how to care for one (and you daughter sounds too young to care for it) you can really hurt yourself and the pony..........also they can live well into their 30's
Want a way to satisfy your daughter's hunger for horses without buying one? Give her lessons......she will learn if she really likes them, and how to care for them.......the experience learned from lessons in invaluable.....
Or if she is really young.....get her the Butterscotch Furreal friends pony......it is really realistic and very cure.....there is a video of it on the Furreal friends web site.....it is $200 or $300 i think.......much cheaper than a horse

People give ponies away to good homes all the time (when kids outgrow or lose interest in them, etc) - I suggest you call your local large animal vets & ask them to let you know if any of their clients are seeking a new home for theirs.

Depends on what kind of pony you want. If you want like a Shetland Pony I could ask my cousin.

A normal pure breed horse is like $4000, put some antlers on it, spray paint it pink, and tada.

A pony is a little form of a horse as far as I know. So around 2, 3, 4 k.
