I've mostly heard guys say that when they are sitting and, say, I'm standing by them, they always tell me to sit because it's making them nervous. So: Is this only a guy thing? And does anyone know why people feel this way?

It is perceived as aggression. If a conflict should happen and you're standing while he is seated then you've got the upper hand. He feels threatened because he starts off at a disadvantage. In the wild part of surviving is appearing bigger than your opponent. If you're standing while he is seated you appear bigger. I believe that goes for anyone not just guys.

Instinctive fear, but fear nevertheless. It isn`t as pronounced with some bodytypes but from what you asked it is in the ones you tend to hang out with.
